In the wake of the COVID-19 travel restrictions which saw international travel cease for over a year, Club Med needed to create a story that put them in the middle of everyone’s attention in an unexpected way.

To do this, we created the Digital Nomad Index, born from the remote work revolution and inspired by the insight that more and more people were dipping into work on their Club Med holidays. The index sought to inspire people of where they could travel while working remotely.

To create the index, we analysed a number of metrics including the cost of living, strength of the local wifi, safety and the presence of certain activities that fell into four categories: adventure, wellness, nature and relaxation. We pulled data for every country in the world for these metrics and created a final score to find the most digital nomad-friendly destinations in the world.

Using our findings, we were able to promote specific Club Med locations to people either already digital nomads or researching how to become one in the future.

The campaign gained full page write-ups in the likes of New York Post and Fox News, achieved coverage from international publications all over the world and was even featured on an Adobe blog post. The page also appeared for key digital nomad terms years after its creation.
